Celebrating Back to School at the Aztec Boys & Girls Club
The Aztec Boys & Girls Club hosted a Back to School Carnival for all youth in the community on Friday, August 19, 2011. This event was free to the public and a wonderful way to welcome back the kids after a great summer. Youth participated in games and were able to win prizes and snacks. Thank you to members of the Aztec High School Key Club who helped face paint and run games. The Club will host a pig roast on Saturday, September 17, 2011 in honor of National Kids Day. For more information on the Aztec Boys & Girls Club or to become a member, please call 334-8861.

Our 7th annual walkathon was a success.
We enjoyed a beautiful day representing the Club in the parade and after the parade continued to walk for 5K. Raising awareness about our organization and the good things we do for the kids in our community. Thanks to all who participated and especially to our many sponsors.

Our Leaders - Lori Scott & Millie Howle

Walking On Main Street In The Fiesta Days Parade
We just can't talk about our Walkathon without mentioning our two wonderful Co-Chairs, Millie Howle and Lori Scott. This is the second year that Millie and Lori have chaired this event for us and there is no doubt that they are the reason for its success. Lori is a VP at Citizens Bank and Millie is one of the owners of Millennium Insurance Agency. Both individuals and business have supported our organization for many years. Besides being hard workers, Millie and Lori are a lot of fun and always have a smile on their faces. Thank you both for taking time from your busy schedules and helping us to strengthen our community, its families and build strong kids!

A Fresh New Look At The Aztec Boys & Girls Club
Thanks to a very generous donation from our friends at ConocoPhillips Company we opened our doors for our Summer Programs with a new floor in our entry way and new carpet in our game room and reception area. The makeover was badly needed as these are high traffic areas and were looking pretty shabby after almost nine years of wear and tear by lots of very active members. ConocoPhillips philosophy is that “A company’s ability to grow depends not only on its business success but also its reputation as a corporate citizen." This reputation is built largely by responsible civic actions, social investment and environmental stewardship.” ConocoPhillips commitment to our community is evident by their continued contributions. It’s nice to have partners like ConocoPhillips who continue to help us meet the needs of our members.
A very special THANK YOU to ConocoPhillips Company!
Teens & Tweens Help Clean Up San Juan County
On June 18, 2008 25 members of the Teen Center and The Aztec Boys & Girls Club headed out to help Williams Exploration and Production clean up a 5 mile stretch of Rosa Road. This clean-up project is something that Williams sponsors every year involving kids from the community and we felt very honored to have been selected this year. Participants were treated to a fantastic lunch provided by Triple S Trucking and will all have their way paid to Cliffs Amusement Park in Albuquerque by Williams for their help. Not bad wages for a day of picking up trash!
Thank You!!!
Thank You To Our Friends At XTO Energy

The Aztec Boys & Girls Club has been fortunate to partner on a couple different ventures with XTO Energy in recent months. XTO is committed to maintaining good will and to being a good civic neighbor, which they do in a variety of ways with both the contribution of both money and time.
XTO Energy sponsored our recent Barbecue fundraiser that we held in conjunction with our Walkathon on May 31st. It was a perfect way to wrap up our Walkathon with a hearty barbecue beef sandwich, potato salad and a brownie. Coca-Cola supplied the cold drinks to accompany the meal. Thanks to XTO the Aztec Boys & Girls Club raised almost $4,000 from the barbecue!
On June 19th members of the Summer Program and a group of members from our Teen Center drove over to Animas Park for a field trip to the Nature Center. They had a great, but hot afternoon of studying the flora and fauna to be found along the Animas River. At the end of their hike they were met by three XTO Energy employees, Dashelle Graves, Mike Marriott and John Weaver who supplied cold drinks and ice cream for everyone. After cooling down a bit they visited one of XTO’s working well sites right in Animas Park and Mr. Weaver and Mr. Marriott explained the different equipment on the well site and stressed how important it is be safe and to NEVER play near a well site. It was an interesting talk and it was amazing to see how many wells there are in San Juan County. After the talk our members were given “gifts“ from our friends at XTO, a key chain, notebook and pen and a drink cozy. A lot of our members have parents who work in the oil industry and several expressed on their way home that the visit to the well site was their favorite part of the day.
Thank You For All You Do For Our Members!!
2008 Walkathon

The Aztec Boys & Girls Club’s 4th Annual Walkathon was held on May 31st. Our walkathon is not only a fundraiser for our organization, but is intended to promote awareness of our Club and Teen Center and our mission: “To inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us the most to realize their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.” Everyone met at the Club on Ash St. first thing Saturday morning to turn in their pledge money and get their tee shirts and then walked as a group in the Aztec Fiesta Days parade. We were joined by our 2008 Champion for Children, Wink Meador. Mr. Meador is a long time supporter of the Aztec Boys & Girls Club as well as many other youth related causes in Aztec and typically does not like a lot of recognition for his good works, but he graciously accepted our award and walked with all of the walkers to encourage others to support the Aztec Boys & Girls Club. XTO Energy provided a great barbecue meal as part of the fundraising event and meals were served both at the Club on Ash St. and at Minium Park as part of the Fiesta Days celebration. Between the walkathon and the barbecue we raised nearly $30,000 for our organization! Many thanks to the numerous corporate sponsors, XTO Energy, Wink Meador, all of the Walkathon Team Captains, Walkers and those who pledged and especially to our 2008 Walkathon Co-Chairs, Millie Howle and Lori Scott! Lori and Millie worked very hard to make this event the success that it was.

Thank You For Supporting Our Club!

Some of Our Members Posed To Say 'THANK YOU' For Supporting Our Club. They Know They Would Not Have It Without Your Support.
Our Teens Also Wanted To Express Their Appreciation To All of Our Raffle Supporters For Making The Newly Renovated Teen Center A Reality!
Congratulations to all of our winners and a very heartfelt THANK YOU to all of you who purchased tickets for this raffle. It is because of you that we are able to continue to offer the wonderful programs that we do for the youth of our community. Without you purchasing our raffle tickets we wouldn't have the wonderful facilities that we have and we wouldn't be able to offer the great programming with the professional staff that we have at our Club. There were well over a thousand winners in this raffle. The lucky six whose tickets were pulled from the tumbler and each and every member of the Aztec Boys & Girls Club.
THANK YOU SO MUCH TO ALL OF YOU.
YOU DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF OUR MEMBERS!!!!
